Does anyone know what type of plating issue this is?
I had not ran across one quite like this before. I looked on Error-ref.com but could not find a match or description to explain it. The closest I could find was Split/Peeling Plating (http://www.error-ref.com/split-peeling-plating/).
Not sure Jon but it kinda looks like the R took a hit on the right leg that caused the plating or metal to move. I see it more on the second photo than the first one.
It does look like a hit that displaced some metal including the zinc underneath... The shadows along both edges (east and west side) look like ridges instead of a break in the plating???
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
