Error Struck Through | 2018P new Error Die Crack?

This just came out of a brand new bank roll. Is this your everyday die crack?

Does it pass under the top of the W?
From the pic it's hard to say, if it passes over it then it would be damage.

I'm assuming it passes under it, then it looks more like a die gouge, not like a crack in either case.

I agree with Ed, can't really tell from the pics. There are some promising areas that do look like cracks though besides the heavy area I think you are referring to. At the northwest end of the "W" there looks to be a small crack coming off the rim, down through the west arm and out the south end of the west arm that splits into two cracks before it goes to the head. Check out the listings here to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

I didn't consider it a gouge because it's raised and under the W. Thought maybe a foreign metal scrap was on the planchet before it was stamped. If so, is there a term for that?

There is a term and it is called a struck through. I am also tending to agree that a struck through is exactly what this is.
