I love searching customer rolls around Christmas time, I always fine something interesting. Today I found this nice "BIE" error. I also found a well worn 1915-D wheatie. In all the years of searching, I had never found a 1915-D.
1957 BIE error found in a customer roll.

Very nice BIE Mark! That's great you got a hold of some Christmas CWR's! Your photos are looking really good too! Your full coin shots are better than mine and you just started using your Celestron! I am curious about your close up shot of the BIE, it should be clearer... if you took that pic with the Celestron camera, that might be why it looks grainy. Next time you do a close up (or if you want to dig this one back out and try it) try using the snipping tool and see if you see a difference.Comment

Another question from a novice, what is the snipping tool?Very nice BIE Mark! That's great you got a hold of some Christmas CWR's! Your photos are looking really good too! Sure, no problem! The snipping tool is a Windows tool that allows you to basically cut out a part of something you see on your computer and save it to your computer. MiciDragan, one of our members, told me about it because I was having problems with my Celestron pics looking grainy. It absolutely fixed the problem!
Go to "Type here to search" and type in snipping tool. It should come up at the top of the list. Then I like to save the application to my task bar so it's easy to get to (or you can pin it to start)... so, right click at snipping tool and pin it to either place you want to. Since I have pinned the snipping tool to my task bar, click on it there and it will open.
This is how to use it for your pics. Click snipping tool, it will pop up a little box. Click "New", your cursor will turn into a plus sign. Left click at the corner of your image, don't let go of the clicker and drag the plus sign to the opposite corner, then let go of the clicker. Now what you just selected will show up in another "snipping tool" box. Click "File" then "Save As"... this is where you decide what you want to name your file and where to put it on your computer, below the file name you type in select "JPEG" and click on "Save"
Here's the thing... I "never" use the Celestron camera anymore. Even though it's a 5 MP which is pretty good... the images I see on my screen are clearer than the ones the Celestron takes so I always use the snipping tool. Once you try it... I'm curious if you think the same thing!
If you get stuck anywhere on this, just let me know. There's a lot of steps involved, but once you do it a few times, it's not bad.Comment

Hi Viv,
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I just learned another thing! Your kindness is much appreciated.

You're welcome Mark! One more little thing... if after you snip your image you are not happy with the way it snipped just click the X at the top right of the snipping window, it will ask you if you want to save changes to the snip? click No and try again. Please let me know if you try it and what you think about the way the snipped images look vs. the photo the Celestron takes!Comment

I tried it and it works great. The close up is nice and sharp. When I use the crop tool, it would blur the image. The Celestron does take nice full shots though. I remember your tip about removing the top to get more height but the one I have allows me to raise the camera enough to get a full shot. Maybe they made the bar a little longer. Thanks again for all your time. You're welcome Mark! Thank you for the update Mark! I'm really glad you are happy with your new Celestron and you have moved past the stage of tweaking different things so now you can go full steam ahead on all of those Lincolns! That's cool the bar is longer on yours! When Ray was helping us test the Celestron, I sent a email to Celestron with the things Ray had to do to get better photos out of it, and who knows... when they changed the focus button they may have made the bar longer too!Comment
