Well... it doesn't look like PSD to me so I would guess die damage. It doesn't look like it could be from a column die clash and that area would typically be lined up with Lincoln's beard at his jaw line.

To me it appears that Lincoln dropped the newspaper he was reading!

I thought he got his feet mixed up with another head, and there is no reason for him to walk all over himself like that...............Dan

Thanks Jon... yeah Rooster was on earlier (great Military story behind that song actually)... but Man in the Box is more fitting for this occasion (won't you come and save me!)

Rock on! Yes, those were the days... our neighbors probably hated us for turning up the volume so loud whenever we could!

Sweet!! I've never seen them live, I'll bet it was a good show! The closest I can come to that was watching Zakk Wylde live at a bar in Winston Salem (Ziggy's), he was great!!

Sorry Dan, did not mean for this to happen. Yours is, more than likely, as Viv said, die damage but there is a lot of damage to the coin and could easily be misplaced metal.

Thank you Jon! The reason I didn't think PSD is because the entire "rectangle" thing looks raised to me, but it may not be. If the rectangle is sunken in the middle then those edges could be hits raising the edges of the anomaly. Dan can let us know which way he sees it because sometimes it's hard to tell from pics (even though his pics are very good)!
