I just finished working with another author on an article about phonograph stylus wear. I am an analog/vinyl audiophile as well as numismatist, and in my quest for sonic perfection I developed a few techniques for evaluating wear on the stylus tips, including inventing one special technique that seems to be the best out there for evaluating wear. So... not only are you a photographic numismatic genius - you have developed a technique for producing pure and perfect sound! Most people today will never experience how great it was to get a brand new diamond stylus for our record players and popping a new vinyl on! I can remember as a kid doing this and adjusting the settings on the stylus so it was not too heavy and not too light to make it last longer and play better!

Vinyl has actually made a resurgence in the last few years. Lots of younger folks are getting into the "retro" swing for some reason. I guess someone with lots of Likes on Facebook decided it was a cool thing to do. It's nice to see it happen, even if it's hard to explain why. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow, especially when you were headed there anyway.

Yeah so true! I think these young folks have decided to go through their parent's vinyl collection and found out how awesome it is! But... once that "needle" (what we used to call it) is worn out you can definitely tell the difference and it's time to get a new one! And I was taught by my dad to "never" touch the needle!

Jim... I am trying to "quote multiple posts" and I'm not sure if this is going to come out right. I changed the title of this thread now that it has been confirmed by Ray and Bob! This is a huge milestone for me and Ray's techniques in this thread will definitely help others!

The forum info is fixed... As for the post added to the above post you will need to help me out there by giving me something specific in the posting you want added... The numbers I have for post #s I do not think are the same as what you show... Post 14 on my page shows as Bobs comments... By the way nice find on the struck thru!!!

Thank you very much Jim for fixing this! Being able to correctly show incuse vs. raised anomalies was the top thing on my list when I got Ray's System! Ray's help is totally amazing and I was able to do it! I just wanted this thread title to show correctly what this is so hopefully other members with potential struck through errors can come here and read Ray's valuable information! We don't have to quote posts, but based on my bad photos showing it as raised in the beginning, Post #3 was Ray saying the anomaly looks like a struck through, #10 was Bob saying he agreed with Ray and #14 was my excitement over being able to photograph the incuse struck through! Thank you so much Ray and Bob!

oh Jim... I just noticed the title says "at neck at neck" - I think I just got Jimmied
