I can’t find anything on this because I don’t know what to call it. and I don’t know what to look under. Is this a worn die or an error, damaged? The edge looks the same.918ACFBE-E41D-4EC9-9E68-6B4F55DD6A5C.jpeg 2D00CBEE-B326-4086-BDEA-54B547C7B75D.jpeg EDE0C1A8-822E-4E6F-96C2-D00FEC2AF769.jpg EA345565-AE97-4DA3-8751-5CD63C237C43.jpg 6C281355-DADA-4961-9DE8-172E37AA79DC.jpg 00F5D223-1450-4AC5-8F0F-B48DD3EB5384.jpg 7D7BFC1E-E879-43A1-9D98-03E0EBF62006.jpg 731C2596-2B62-4943-BC35-C9F998DC9BDD.jpg 33BD9B46-EC97-410F-9901-4C4445FEC2B9.jpg 965C66F1-CC37-4E34-B545-C4E9D90C0E23.jpeg

Looks to me like it sat in the ground for a decade or two (Environmental Damage - ED
)... On the close ups I can see some of the toning in the deeper recesses and that indicates it has been cleaned... Also appears to be on the rims and edges???

Definitely damage, but my first thought would be someone dipped it in acid. Environmental damage is also a possibility but to have it that even on both sides leads me to believe it is acid and maybe not in the dirt.Bob Piazza

I thought acid first also but with the toning showing in some of the recesses and the amount of pitting I was leaning toward the ED??? I can see toning around the 75, MM and at the rim of the date/MM pic!!!Jim

A bad whiz job with a wire polishing tool. You can see all the little areas where the wire was digging into the surface. I've done this myself plenty of times experimenting with various attachments for my dremel.Last edited by jallengomez; 07-10-2019, 07:05 AM.“What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”Comment
