Error MDD | Light MD or trenching on a zincoln?

When I first saw this it looked like trenching from the 30's and 40's wheats. I thought maybe plating issues but then noticed it was all the same direction. So maybe light MD?

Jon, I think it is Plating Disturbance Doubling - here is a link to error-ref.com (scroll down about mid way) and there's a pic of it on the back of Lincoln's head.

Thanks for checking it out Viv!! Yeah, a plating issue was my first guess but just thought it odd that it was directional on several of the devices, it's usually more random.

I'm not sure... it looks closer to Lincoln's hair than the pic of Plating Disturbance Doubling and since it's also at the motto in the same direction it could be MD. Since Will's definition of Channeling/Trenching states that it was seen on 1920's to 1950's I wouldn't think it is that.

Added: Jon, I just ran across this 1991P and it has pretty extreme Plating Disturbance Doubling all over in different places, but it is showing up like yours is at the top of Lincoln's head and inside the lower places of the motto.

Also I just did this as a test... the images we post are slightly altered out of focus like Ray was saying. I can tell for sure looking at these pics and comparing them to the ones saved on my computer. Even the outside edge where it says "Celestron...etc." is out of focus.

Sorry Jon to alter your thread into a different direction - I added the screenshot to see if you can see the difference in focus I'm talking about. It would be nice to get this issue resolved.

Thanks for the added info Viv!! Yeah, just writing this off as plating issues, just thought it looked a little different. I appreciate you checking it out though!

You're welcome Jon! I'm still bugged with the focus thing though - maybe that is why some people use photobucket and use a link to their pics? It may be an issue that just can't be fixed

I figured my screenshot would also be out of focus of the out of focus one to begin with and it was, but at least it's showing the difference a little bit.

Yeah, I know little to nothing about the different cameras or the transferring of pics. I just point and shoot!

I think Jason Cuvelier uses Flickr. It's a free photo hosting site so I started an account this morning to see if that will help, especially with close up shots! Since Jim is using stacking software his photos don't seem to be affected as much, but that is a while on down the road for me

After seeing your threads that you used it on, I might have to check that out! Are there size restrictions on Flickr?

Thanks Jon! I don't know much about any of this so just kinda checking it out. If it ends up being a good thing, I don't mind paying for it if more space is needed. Or... just fill flickr up and leave it alone and start using Google Photos or something else?

I think for a safety net I will go ahead and attach my pics to the thread - but the ones on flickr may be in better focus.

Looks like plating issues to me also... If it were trenching I would not expect the plating to have the ridge appearance along the outer edge... Looks like there may be some split plating along the chin also!!!

                        Vivien,
On your side by side pic the left pic appears out of focus on the east side and the right pic appears in focus... Is that what you are talking about???
