Will both books have copyrights. CONECA has the copyrights for Cohen, I'll ask James Motley for permission to use the image.
Both books are in the ANA Library and can be checked out if you are a ANA member.
Regarding copyrights, you don't actually need permission from the owner to publish the image provided you follow a couple simple rules:

    1) The use is for educational purposes with no commercial gain
    2) You attribute the photo to the copyright owner

The use under the above conditions is covered by "Fair Use" and is perfectly fine.

      .

      I did not know that.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

Here's much more info, including the 4-factor test. In fact there is no legal requirement to attribute the photo, but that is a generally accepted quid pro quo for the use of the material. I recently had a photo used in an article without my consent and without citation, and it made me very upset, but it's doubtful I could do anything about it because of the fair use doctrine. If they had given a citation, I would not have been upset at all.

Thanks, Ray. Been saying that for years, but nobody listens to me.

Sorry Will. It was either before my time or I was not paying attention in school that day. I will not forget.
