I went through 40 some pages of Error Ref and our glossary and could not find an example of this. My best guess is a combination of a MAD, extreme deterioration and possibly a bezel. I could be wrong but it looks like all the devices, on both the obverse and the reverse are shifted north.
Thanks for looking and let me know what you think.
Cool... I see the die wear but it could be more than that??? Possibly a rim restricted second strike - info from Error Ref !!!
Thanks for checking it out Jim!! Where we were just talking about the rim restricted second strike recently (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/foru...ght=restricted), I may have went to that first but easily ruled it out. It is, as it says, a second strike, which shows as an independent, totally separate strike, where mine is just a continuation of the same devices.
Interesting how the close up and the full shot make it look different.
In the full shot it does look like damage from a bezel.
In the close up it looks different.
In the full shot it looks like the outer most part of the rim is crushed from a bezel on the obv and rev.
In the close shot the outer most part of the rim looks raised and the area where the motto meets the normal upset looks raised.
So what is the reality, with a loupe and some angles, is the outer part crushed like a bezel mark or raised up?

I'll try to get some angled shots this evening, Ed. Thanks for checking it out!

Got home early. Let me know if there is something else in particular you want shots of.

I have no idea what I saw the first time around??? That being said I am totally in with die wear!!!
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
I agree with die wear moving the motto.
Interesting that the new pics seem to verify the outer edge is recessed not raised but angled not flat like a typical bezel mark. I'm not really sure what would make that angled recessed edge, even has sort of a lip on the outer rim.

Wouldn't the angle be from a poor strike???
