That's cool looking, Sheila. It does look like zinc showing through but I think if you did a small test, with a little scrape in the zinc colored area, you may find some copper plating still. My guess is the copper has been discolored by environmental damage or some substance, such as paint. I cannot see any difference in the surface, between color changes, that would point to plating differences. -

I think it was removed with electrolysis. I seena write up of it on one of the sites. Wasnt minted like thisComment
