Error Off-Center | Off center strike.

I recently bought a large mixed coin lot that this was in. I've never had one in hand, they are pretty neat. It looks to be a zinc coin from the 80's.

Very nice find! I have searched millions of pennies in the past and have never found one. Congrats.

I wish I could take credit for finding while searching. It was in a large mixed silver coin lot of mid 1800's coins I was interested in and was in a 2x2 flip already. It was a peculiar lot with mostly silver but a few odd coins, like the off center Lincoln with it.

back in the days when you could get bags directly from the mint, you could find many off center specimens. I had two bags in particular that were particularly generous. A 1995P 5000 coin bag had 43 off centers in it, and a 1999P bag had 68. Needless to say, quality control procedures were not working too well back then.

That must have been very cool to run across that many! Where I search bank rolls, predominately, I will never see one in the wild.
