1983 LMC counterclash, first clash discovered, how do you attribute?
Excuse the missue of any words, but this was my first die clash, on a 1983 P from a OBW roll. Is there a listing of clashes I can check with PUPs like in varieties. I see the columns on the obverse but can’t see much on the reverse except for some oddity running SE at the 3rd 4th column.
Here is Mad Die Clashes. (https://www.maddieclashes.com/) You seem a bit ahead of the curve, so I'll let you investigate. Let us know if you need anymore help.
Thanks makecents, I understand this is a “Jailed Lincoln” error after some research. At Mad Die Clashes, there are several error types for the 1983 P cent. Several features on this clash exist on other types. So I believe with the photos, the attribution is:TDC-1c-1983-01
My next question is which TPGs provide attribution with the TDC designation or die clashes generally. Without the die clash, this coin is MS 65 to MS 66?

Some others here, that are more versed in getting coins slabbed, may want to speak to this. Without it being a major clash, I doubt PCGS or NGC would label it, or it would just be a generic label if they did but ANACS would be your best shot at using the correct attribution label.
I don't think that is the correct attribution for this coin. The clash is slightly rotated like ADC-1c-1983-01. But I also see two clash lines under the Memorial of Lincoln's head, which might make this a type 1 counterclash. I don't see a matching listing.
Wendell Carper It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!
