Error Struck Through | 1983 struck thru?

    Hi everyone,
This is a 1983 struck thru coin showing it has been struck twice and also shows a D mint mark on Lincoln's beard. Any and all opinions are appreciated and also can anyone give me a ballpark idea on value please.

This is my first attempt to post a photo and I do know my pics are not very good, my camera is not good for these types of photos, sorry.

    Thank you, Cindy

Hey Cindy, from the photos provided I suspect that the coin was twice pressed against another coin (it would appear to have been minted in in Denver from the 'D'). This was probably done in a vice in someone's garage, and probably someone just fooling around.

No problem Cindy. Don't be hard on yourself at all, numismatics take time and we all make mistakes. I only figured out what I have by asking questions, looking and reading. Everyone gets stumped by something on a coin now and then, and one looks for someone else for assistance. I often check with Bob Piazza or Mike Diamond if I am stuck on something - with Mint Errors that happens rather frequently. There is so much to know it is crazy. Happy hunting!

You would not believe how many coins I have put aside that have strange anomalies and later on I go back and discover something similar to what you found... just a garage job, or steamroller accident, or other things people do when they have way too much time on their hands.
