    2004 small cud. DDR also?

The baby cud/die chip caught my eye. Then under magnification I noticed what might be doubling. I have a few questions:

    1. Is it a cud or die chip, or are they synonymous?

    2. Does anybody collect those, and is it worth keeping for later trade/sale?

    3. Most importantly, is that doubling or wishful thinking?

A cud (Major die break) is when a piece of the die breaks from the rim to the design on the coin. Looks like a blob of metal from where there was no pressure from the broken die. The term cud was used to describe a chunk of tobacco held in the side of the mouth.
    2. If you have room for it keep it. It only cost a cent. Never know what will be a collectable.
    3. Doesn't look like any doubling on the motto. When you see the 04'-DDR-001, you'll know it. It's pretty significant.

Ah. So a cud is a chip on the rim. Usually bigger also.

        Thanks. BTW Nice picture.

Doesn't have t be big, just extend into the design of the coin.

They will get bigger over time if not caught by a mint worker. This is why these are considred mint errors.
