    [Example] 1999-D Struck on Unplated Planchet

    This is a 1999-D Lincoln Cent that has been struck on an Unplated Planchet and graded as a Mint Error MS-63. Weight of the coin is 2.4 Grams vs 2.5 Grams with the missing copper layer.

        Nice - I did not know that NGC was in to grading errors like that - I thought ANACS was the prime slabber.

          Thanks Roger. Almost all grading services will do Error Coins however some of the services will not provide Grades but will describe the error. You have to provide them a description of the error and they will disagree or agree on the slab. Also it depends on how much you want to pay. I believe there is one grading company that charges up to $40 for error coins.
