    [Example] Unusual clash 1985 reverse

Mark (papascoins) sent this 1985 with what looks like odd clash marks in bays 7 and 8. After working with an overlay, I have concluded it is most likely from a isolated clash event involving the neck and beard, with a rotation of 8 degrees and a misalignment of about 5%. There are no clash marks on the obverse. Note: while unusual, the degree of rotation and misalignment are not enough to fit the MAD clash category.

I am adding it to the maddieclashes.com files in the Atypical section as ADC-1c-1985-01

Clashes right there are pretty common

This is not a dramatic clash. What makes it unusual is that the rotation is greater than we normally see and it is combined with a misalignment. There are no polish lines either. Most clashes in the bays are remnants of bigger clashes with rampant abrasion.
