[Example] LMC Struck 35% Off-Center with a RARE Edge Strike

This is No Date Lincoln Memorial Cent ERROR COMBINATION which has been Struck 35% Off-Center and also has a VERY RARE EDGE STRIKE.
This is considered a Rare Occurrence for a error coin.

This coin has been graded as a Mint Error MS-65 RED.

The Edge strike on this coins shows two partial letters from the die that struck it. The planchet entered the striking chamber and stood on it's (Edge) rim, and when the dies came together the Planchet was forced flat, however not before part of the die design was struck onto the (Edge) rim. The edge strike is located at the K-6 position on the Reverse of the coin.

If the dies had come fully together with the planchet standing on it's edge, the planchet would have folded over and would have been struck causing a different error called a "Foldover Strike" which is also a rare and sought after error and brings high prices based on the centering of the strike on the foldover.

      Very Nice Joe,

Do you know if the standing planchet would create damage to the die or is it just too soft?
So, I guess the fold-over strike is coming out of the chest next huh?
