      based on the photos, I'd say from the split on the lower serif that it was an RPM, however it looks like a large die gouge/break west of the MM.

        I think the west anom. looks too much like a partial D to be a gouge. Then again, gouges come in all sizes and forms.

          You might be right, but based on the size and location, i would think that the east part of the primary MM would also show inside the supposed secondary MM. This is why I think it's a die gouge.

            It could be a new one. I have had Chuck Daughtrey's entire 1952D RPM collection her, for well over a year. Those, along with the 20 or 30 of them that I have in my collection will someday be attributed. I do not recall seeing one like this in there, but I am also skeptical of the anomaly to the west of the mint mark. I would definitely need to see it in hand for proper attribution.
