      Hi
The entire motto has doubling - but how could it be a doubled die? After 41 years I find a brand new die? I think the chances are less than nil! Must be. Good old machine doubling - but - yea your right.

I don't know, that looks promising. Some closer pictures of the motto would help a lot. I still think it could be a ddo and if its a new one that would be awesome. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

There'd have to be something very odd going on with that motto for it not to be a DDO. Looks like a DDO to me from the pictures. But really we'd need better photos to be sure.

I see it, it is a CW Class I - probably DDO-002. Nice find Roger!

I see it Rog, looks like 002 as Jason pointed out. Why do you say it doesn't match anything ?

No question that's a nice doubled die. Good thing you didn't toss this back on bad advice.

I thought the doubling was going wrong way.

In addition to the big, class II die for 1971, there are also three class I DDOs, both CW and CCW.

I sure wish I could see what you are looking at on that coin. This is what is frustrating to me and possibly other new folks in this hobby and that not being able to see these very minute DD's you guys seem to see. Sometimes looking at at a pic it looks like MD but then some of the time it is a DD. Seeing a real strong DD is fairly easy but frankly I could have looked at 100 of these DD's under my scope and would have probably thrown them into the return bucket. Maybe my eyes aren't good enough anymore or and I need bigger pics to see the DD here but this sure tells one that years and years of collection makes a huge difference and us new folks just need to keep looking and learning and getting really lucky sometimes helps too.

                        Anyway Rog, great find! Congrats.

It is a little difficult to see on Roger's pics wapa, but if you'd like to see what some of us are seeing, take a look at the following:

                            Hi
I was tired and still had the 1982 on my mind. I just looked at the coin wrong. I'm grateful for lcr to correct me. This morning went back on coppercoins and was amazed at #2. Oh well!
                            Thanks lcr

Thanks Bob CC is my second goto website after this one. Thanks for the link, the closeups do help for sure. This coin error isn't as hard as others to see so I feel a little more assured I may not have thrown any into a cull bucket. However, I am new at this and one never knows.
