1982 is a notoriously tricky date because of there are I think 7 different types of cents minted that year...yours might have some extra thickness, but honestly it is so hard to tell for this date. I would recommend checking coppercoins for possible die markers.

Thanks! It is deffinatly thicker than the other 1982 I have here of the same type, especially on the WE of IGWT. Looks like the on I saw on Coppercoins this morning (on a different computer)
Your coin appears to be a small date zinc, which precludes it being the DDO-002 immediately. When checking for this variety, I find it easiest to separate out all the '82 LD Coppers, then focus on checking for separation lines on "In God." I have been lucky enough to find a few even way out West here. They are out there, unfortunately this one isn't it. I wish you good luck finding one!
Actually, this is a large date coin. It does not appear to be a doubled die though. It may appear to me extra thickness, but I see it as worn dies/circulation wear.

Richard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Newer members like these.
Sorry this is not a doubled die but this is a fun year to find doubled die.I believe the most common of these doubled dies is 002.I believe 003 is the rare one, more ppl own a 1992 CAM than the 82P-1DO-003.Im still hoping to find a new die for this year.

(John) This is only one way to go in my world and that's forward, without a reverse!

John, that is quite a stretch, but I hear ya. I actually know of, or have attributed 11 of the 1DO-003s. In that batch, there were two that were Late Die State (LDS). That means there are many of them out there. The thing is that unless you know what to look for, a lot of them are missed. But once you find one (as you know) they kinda stand out.
