    2001D what is that?

This poor Lincoln seems to be holding something in his right hand.
Does anyone know what it is?
    Sorry, couldn't resist posting this.

From looking at your image Jean, that's a DDR!

If your wondering why I think it's a DDR -- this is an example of a significant rotated doubled die. What you point out at the hand is column remnants. Additionally, notice down below the right side of the pedestal is the corresponding other column remnant.

Rotate those two remnants counter-clockwise and you will see both of those raised remnants will fall exactly on the highest points of columns #6 and #7.

So, to summarize, what you are seeing are the two partial remnants of the highest points of Memorial columns #6 and #7 with a significant CCW rotation.

That's a really super nice find Jean!

        Billy

edited to add: Sure would love an opportunity to examine your coin and add to my files and put it in my upcoming book.

I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of adding arrows to your image pointing out the two partial column remnants.

                    Billy,
You can add all the arrows and pointers and information to any coin I post.
Good golly, I would be proud to have you photograph it and include the picture if it is up to par when you get it. Could you please pm your address to me and I will get it out asap, tomorrow (Monday) probably.
YAHOO! and Howdeeee! And I thought this was just a fun error coin. That goes to show you how much I know... or, actually, don't know.

2001D what is that? News bulletin!

Billy sent me a message today that he has examined this coin and has concluded it is now:
                      2001-D 1c CDDR-003. A tripled die reverse?
I am humbled... actually, still numb...

Jean; Congratulations on a very nice find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not very often that you hear of a TDR coin and especially with the use of the new Schuler presses at the mint (Squeeze System).

When you come down from the clouds (Well deserving flight) go to the bank and buy some more coins, (LOL)

                              Okay Joe.
Now why did I not think of that? DUH.
Flying sort of fills my brain with air and makes it difficult to think.
