Bob does not believe it to be a doubled die.
It really can't be a doubled die for a couple of reasons. First, there is nothing in that shape in the memorial bays. Secondly, this is a complete arch versus a partial. For example, if the upper part of the 7th column was doubled to the west, so wouldn't the upper part of column 6. It wouldn't be doubled to the east. It seems that the most likely scenario would be die deteriorationComment

That was on a 1996 p...and the anomaly was totally different... take a look at the coin in that thread ...it looks like the 6th bay is hubbed right and the 7th hubbed left
this is a 2004...to me..kinda looks like a die chip...but I can see the arch being hubbed down and left originally also.... but I haven't examined anything like this... and found out I was wrong last time..... I believe this one (the 2004) has merit, but I have been up and down on this one. It is not on coppercoins because I can not be certain that it is a doubled die, contrary to what John and Billy say.Bob Piazza
