Yes that is a small date 1982. You can tell because the "middle" of the 2 is curved. When it's a large date the middle is "straight." To bad it wasn't a small date copper 1982. Those are pretty rare. Do you know if it's zinc or copper? Hope this helps.

Kinda far away but it does look like you might have one. Can you get closer to the D??

What does the "D" have to do with it? He's asking if he has a large date 1982 or a small date 1982.

Sorry Jonathan, He is asking if it is an RPM. He has a question mark after RPM in the title of the thread. Thanks for helping with the small date diagnosis though.

Roger, I too would need to see a closer look but from here it looks like plating doubling.

              Hi Jonathan,

RPM stands for "RePunched Mintmark". Their fun to look for but more fun to find and share.

Oh, like double punched ones but the second punch is a little off? Thanks.

Ok now that i know it does look like the "9" and the "2" are kind of double punched. But that might be normal. I'll check with like 10 of my coins and see if i can see the same thing.

No ,hes talking about the mintmark "D" is repunched. Not the date.
RePunched Minmark is where the RPM comes from

He dosn't say anything about just the "D." Maybe he meant the whole thing.

Jonathan, we're looking at the thread title (above the body of the thread). The body is what you just quoted. Sorry if you already knew this. Here's the title:1982-D Small Date RPM?

RPM refers to the mintmark (D)
The darn bold lettering is stuck on even though I turned it off...weird!

Were my responses harsh to you? If so I apologize! They were not meant to be, unless your referring to the dark boldness of the letters which I guess some could see as yelling but no that was just a computer error. Anyways, don't hesitate to ask any question. It's one of the best ways to learn this great hobby of ours.
