    1909 S VDB altered?

I got to examine my brother's 1909 S VDB today, and from all of the info I have collected on this, it doesn't look good, so I wanted to post it here for more input. I am seeing that the mint mark is in the wrong location and orientation. I am also seeing the dot after the D is not centered. I remember reading conflicting opinions about this, though. Also, this is a "deep N" which I believe is not correct for the S VDB. Is this an altered cent? And if so, has the VDB been added, or has the mint mark been added? Thank you.

S was clearly added... appears to be the wrong style... and position. http://www.pcgs.com/News/Counterfeit...-Lincoln-Cents

        Definitely an altered coin.

Looks like the wrong mintmark. Isn't that the small S mintmark, MMS-002?

Looks like they added the S to a 1909-P VDB.

The VDB used on P and S cents:

Thanks, Ed. I knew I saw something on the difference somewhere.
