Well, all I can say is that I'm glad I save all the copper cents and separated those I deem worthy of being labeled other than "copper bullion" because I always thought that the thick devices were the norm for '73s. In other words, I don't see more than the usual thickness on the motto.

The 73s, much like the 74 large date cents, can be deceptive...until you compare them to other 73s. The key is not the thickness per se, but the distortion and deviation in thickness. I'm even inclined on this one to speculate that it's a combination of class II and class VI.“What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”Comment
