1972S doubled die obverse (very rare)

Here is a 1972S DDO-001 (FS-01-1972S-101 (033.7) that I have only seen illustrated in CPG. Brad has it in his top 20 proofs issues. The coin has an assortment of condition issues making it hard to logistically photograph and difficult to keep the pictures asthetically pleasing. I took shots on two different days - the red ones were earlier when I was experimenting with red reflected light.

CONECA states that there's a "Short die gouge just above shoulder point – EDS" - I found a few points of interest (die gouge and dots) but I am not sure where exactly to look so what I found may be wrong.

Thanks Joe and Roger. From what I understand this is a hard DDO to locate. I just wish it was in better shape

Actually I've seen a couple of them at coin show (Few and far between), however all had issues in the Proof Sets.

I did happen to find the 1971-S FS#-032 Proof, 1971-S FS#-033 Proof and the 1971-S Proof FS#-33.1 by Cherry Picking. . There was about a years time span between all 3 coins being found.

You still have a very nice coin and Thanks for sharing.

Nice find and Very nice reference pics..

Lincolns from early 70s proof sets are many times found in the lower proof grades.
