    1957 D rpm or not?

Does this even qualify as an RPM? I'm focusing on the inner bar(or perhaps even hyper-focusing from tooo much caffeine!).

I would be hesitant on calling it an RPM, but I wouldn't discount it. I would expect to see corresponding doubling (or at least some extra thickness) on the outside of the curve. If this one were an RPM, I would probably not list it as it would be difficult to substantiate.

I thought it may be RPM 018. But I think Bob makes a excellent point here. The position. Shape are in the area but it maybe more Die deterioration of The Mint Mark its self. I also need to correct a name. Dr Wiles. not Whiles.

I agree with you guys. The bar seemed out of place to have no other notching or separation on outside of MM. Thanks

I personally think this is an RPM, but I admit that I would like to see further study with examples from other die stages found. Whether it's too minor to bother with is another question. However, there are certainly listed examples out there that are similar.

No serif(s) and nothing on the outside. That to me looks like the edge of the mintmark punch. Seems I found quite a few of that type over the years on different dates - this is the response I got.

I put this one in the "send to Bob" drawer.

Just a note ...I wasn't saying it was too minor, I was saying it would be difficult to substantiate

I see what you mean, Bob. Without any other defining characteristics it's just too shallow to say for sure, right? I'm assuming you need some definition outside the primary MM to give this one credit for being an RPM for certain?

That is correct Tracy. Sometimes, you just have to have more, or an uncirculated example that convinces you otherwise.
