    1909 VDB DDO FS-1101

    This particular variety was once housed in an early generation pcgs green holder unattributed. The main picture in the original listing was of the reverse of the coin. My heart skipped a beat when i saw the die crack from the rim to the left wheat stalk. The obverse was a dead giveaway, and I had to jump. Paid full list for a MS65RD for a normal 1909 VDB, submitted for reholder/attribution, but it's the highlight of my registry now. Enjoy!

      Paying full list price rally paid off! I saw an auction 2 years back where one in MS-65 went for $2350. One heak of a pick!

          The seller's had this listed with a BIN. If they had done an auction it most definitely would have gone for several thousands. Just my lucky day I suppose, and it always pays to look even on previously graded coins.

                  Don't count on that! There are a couple of guys here who routinely cherrypick this variety on the cheap at auction. You came to the right place to show that one off! Congrats on an awesome pick. That is a fun variety to look at.

                              I completely agree, I think FS-1101 is easily hidden in pictures by bad lighting. FS-1102 is easily identified by die chips and clash marks. I know personally that I've cherried way more Die 2 than Die 1. Both are great examples.
