    It looks like a Die Chip. If you scroll down it's posted here in the glossary.

      It may be a die chip but to me it appears to be damage... There is an area of the last 9 with similar damage on it!!!

          My vote is with Jim , it took a hit
          So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John

            How about a Mint Mark with a Die Chip extruding from it with a hit on it. 79 has a lot of filled in Mint Marks.
            As to Dan's question. Really depends on the coin and collectors interest. Also how extreme it is. This one no.

              I'm with Jim and Glade. It is a die chip, filling the mint mark, which was subsequently damaged. It has no value, but that doesn't mean you can't find someone to pay you money for it.
