    1938-D Unlisted RPM & DDR

I cherrypick this one off ebay for what was an obvious DDR. I was pleasently surprised when I saw that it also had an RPM with two spits in the upper serif, one in the lower, and possibly movement on the inner portion of the vertical bar.

This is one that maybe wouldn't have been listed on coppercoins. I am not convinced the reverse's Class 6 would be strong enough to list. I am also concerned about the areas around the mint mark. There is a lot going on there and I am not sure I would list it as an RPM either. However, I would caveat that by saying this is my opinion based on the photos only. An in hand look could very well change my mind.

I see two notches up top, one below, and a strong shadow indicating an additional vertical bar inside the MM.

I think the angle of your reverse pic is betraying how strong the DDR is. The upper shadow on the E is probably hiding the depth. I can see the notching on the dot really well though. I hate shooting thru slabs. If anyone ever invents a glare proof slab, they could write their ticket with photographers in this hobby!
              Nice find!
