What do you make of this 1969-S?

    Hello again,

I found this coin in a bag loaded with early BU coppers as well as a several hundred King George VI Canadian coins. The date first struck me as weird, but the doubling on LIBERTY got me excited, especially the L. There is also some slight doubling on IN of the Motto and slightly on the 9 of the date as well. This one will probably take an in hand look, but I'm of course hoping it's an unlisted DDO. The doubling looks pretty rounded, but MD is always lurking. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance for any input and happy searching!!

    John

I like the last 9 but the rest I would have leaned toward a bit of die deterioration . Hope I'm wrong and there is another reason to go through my 69's rolls again !

That is interesting... To me it looks a lot like the master die doubling on the 1972 Lincolns???

I kinda like the L, it reminds me of several of the 72 DDOs....definitely needs an in hand by a qualified attributer.

Thanks for the input everyone. This coin is hard to make a call on either way for me. This likely means that it is just die det., but I am not giving up on it yet. I will put it in the "to be sent to Bob" pile. If anything becomes of it, I will let you know.

I went $100/face of these last year. After 20 rolls or so I was blind! The deterioration on these is so prevalent it plays tricks on the mind. I wonder to this day how many 002s and 003s I missed simply because my minds eye was so accustomed to the MD? I have several rpms where the MM is all but obliterated but the die markers are clear as day! I have several coins set aside that are similar to yours.
