    1950 Proof DDR

Found this coin while looking through my proof sets. Looks very similar to CONECA's DDR-001 but I can't find any markers on CONECA's coin. I actually didn't think mine was a worthy DDR until I saw the coin on varietyvista. I will add this to my Wexler pile, as he has no 1950 DDRs. Doubling shows on EPL as well as slight separation on the left wheat tip.

I can't make out much on that one, but I will take your word on it. I feel that any proof variety is worth sending in, simply because of the low numbers produced. Good luck with the submission and thanks for helping update the reference files!

I do see the splits on the left stalk... Do you have any on the right??? According to VV both stalks have a light spread... Bet that gave yours eyes a hard time

No splits on the right but it has the same thickness seen on DDR-001. Side by side the right tips look the same in the photos even though mine is a bit fuzzy.

I only even checked this coin more in depth because the first dot between E and P was oval instead of round. Definitely a very minor variety that was tough to see!

Your coin looks to have been sealed its entire life... The VV sample appears to have some circ wear going on... Your right stalk does appear to have some light splits at the tips... Even as a minor DDR it is a nice coin!!!

Another great pick! I love hunting DDRs and the first things I focus on are the E and the dot. The E can be marginal sometimes but the dot rarely lies.
When you see an oval or egg-shaped dot, you are on the right path most of the time.

The dot rarely lies. Very true words.

I do the same thing. Probably the easiest way to find a DDR for me! Fortunately it seems to be a common pick-up-point.
