Not sure this is Copper Coins 009???

I have had this one for a while... Did not realize it was a RPM until the other day... I had originally kept it for the gouge on the rev (I thought it was a strange gouge)... It is close to Copper Coins (CC) 009 http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diest...&die_state=mds but my MM appears to be slightly farther east, south and rotated CW compared to the CC sample... I also have no markers I can find... If it is CCs 009 it would have to be later than the MDS sample yet the dies do not look that heavily used... Hope my pics are ok!!!

I think this is where learning to do overlays would pay off...and I know you can do it Jim

I did an overlay and when I align the MMs the dates are out of alignment... I sent Bob a PM for permission to use the pic from CC... If I get the O.K. I will post the overlay... I did a close up of the die gouge from the rev... Easier to see instead of the crop and zoom

            Overlay pics!!!

With permission (Thanks Bob) I used a pic from Copper Coins as an overlay (1972d1mm009m.jpg)... The 1st pic is from Copper Coins... I aligned the MMs and the date is out of alignment... I used green arrows to point this out... I believe this is a new RPM... I did look at Copper Coins 010 and it does not match either... All comments welcome!!!

I rechecked Wexlers site and he has no 1972 RPMs listed... Also checked Variety Vista and no matches of the 8 listed... Appears to be a new RPM that I will need to send for attribution!!!

If you think it is strong enough for CONECA you could send it there. Otherwise Wexler has at least 12 listings for 1972. I don't know how long it will take to get them online though since he is only up to 1950-D for his Lincoln cent RPMs.

If I were you, I would just ask Larry.

That explains why I didn't see any 72Ds on his site Thanks for the heads up... I do believe it is strong enough for Variety Vista since 008 there only has a split upper serif!!!
