If I get the light just right on this coin it looks like a RPM to the east. What do you think? Just a random die scratch or the real deal?
1970D RPM?

Inconclusive to me, David, but if you continue to the south of the anomaly, it appears to curl back to the west WAY to early to be 2nd punch of the mint mark. I also see what looks like the upper left quadrant of a D between the existing D and the 7. Maybe it is all just just die boogers. Maybe you will find an attributer to call it an rpm. Hard to say.All opinions expressed are not necessarily shared by willbrooks or his affiliates. Taking them may result in serious side effects. Results may vary. Offer not valid in New Jersey. -
It appears to have a vertical bar inside the MM also, in the right position. But nothing is showing on CC or VV.
Hmmmmm.

I did a quick(and very crappy)(because the Bourbon has done its job and I'm ready for bed) overlay and the more inner circle which is the high points of the mint mark actually match up with the curve as well as the apparent secondary vertical bar inside the primary MM.

Is it just a reflection, or is there slight class 5 doubling above the right side of the horizontal bar of the 7?“What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”Comment

To me it does appear to be a RPM... Very light but with the overlay from our Bourbon Street friend
above I would send it in... I also see the knub above the 7 and that is without any bourbon

You know, I saw that mark about the seven when I posted the picture too. I will have to have a closer look at that tonight. I'll report back about it. Will has a point, the anomaly to the right of the mint mark might be to small for a mint mark punch. And are the raised marks inside the mint mark a part of the normal mint mark design?

The area inside is not part odfa normal single D MM design that I am aware of... To me the area inside your primary MM looks like the vertical bar and part of the upper serif... It also appears to be more pronounced than the area outside... A slightly tilted and CCW rotated light punching???Jim
