Could not come up with a match of the DDR several were similar but couldn't confirm with die markers.
DDR with many struck threw impressions.

That's a really nice doubled column! I'm looking too and not seeing a match. Going back to look again. It looks similar to coppercoins.com Die #8, but I think your doubled column is longer.
Or maybe Wexler's Die #7 http://doubleddie.com/426401.html
Well... Die 7 doesn't have any markers... hummm....Last edited by VAB2013; 11-27-2017, 09:44 PM. -
Nice find.
Is there some zinc showing at the bottom of the anomaly closest to the tie? It looks like a little spot of grey.
Any chance it could be a defective zinc core blank?
I would think that some coins exhibit depressions that they are caused by voids in the surface of the zinc before it gets plated.
Seems like the zinc blanks must be rolled, cut, sent through the upsetting mill and then plated, with a few misc. steps in between. Just like there are defective copper planchets before the strike, it would make sense that the zinc blanks could have voids in the surface before plating.Comment
