    1924-S DDO-001 Earlier die state

This has turned out to be rather minor class VI ddo but it's the only one for this year/mint.
This coin does not have the chips in TRUST but does have the chip in the four of the date. This may be the earliest die state found yet.

Pretty nice to find some of those oldies. This is a pretty nice example of the variety.

How nice to find this wheat DDO John! It may actually be the earliest die state found and reported from the looks of what I just saw on varietyvista.com their example is LDS with no EDS/MDS confirmed. You may want to PM Dr. Wiles with a link to this thread so he can see it!

Great find John!! To find a doubled die in any wheat and find one with only one in that year, that's nice.

          Very nice find John.
Even though it may be a minor one finding a much earlier die state is fantastic.
None of the "cratering" going on around the rim behind the devices, no chips or filled devices on R & S of TRUST.
Yours is a really nice example that highlights how the VV images show the die deterioration on the tail of the 9 for a later die state.

Jim I think this is an awesome find and I hope Dr. Wiles will want to include it on varietyvista.com It very well could be a one of a kind find, and EDS Stage A is pretty incredible I think for a 24S DDO, the only doubled die for that year and mint! John, please keep us posted!

Hopefully John can get it sent in... With the heavy wear on the listed sample Johns has got to be a Stage A... The field between the devices and the rim look nearly flat which from what I have seen on wheats is indicative of a real early Stage A or for CC a VEDS!!!

                      Many thanks all !
I , of course , now want to find an example that predates the chip in the 4 of the date and this die state makes a nice bridge for tying that future attribution to the VV example.
I have a few items I want to send to both VV and Wexler with this being one of them so looking to get them out soon.

That's it ! I have seen pics of this die state where the die chips are like bubbles filling the letters.
