I have a rough time with RPM's to begin with unless there are in your face varieties but plated RPM's are an absolute nightmare for me because of corrosion. That being said I cannot tell if this is corrosion, MD or a possible new RPM. There is nothing listed with any site that matches. It is northeast and you can see it on the inside and outside of the mm. The only thing that makes me lean toward MD is the 87 looks to have MD in the same direction. Thanks for any help, Jon.

I said northeast earlier but it's actually ccw rotation. I tried to show what looks like MD on the date too which might be whats on the mm.Comment

Good images and question. Interested to hear the outcome because of the reasons you mentioned Jon.Comment

To me it looks like MD... On the inside of the vertical bar toward the top looks to be a crease in the bar also on the outside of the loop at the top and around on the SE edge???Jim

Thanks Jim!! I kinda figured so, with what looked like MD on the date in the same direction. It was just so pretty I figured I would take a stab at it.

I agree with Jim. Good call Jim. These are the ones that make us pull out our hair. Jon...you've accidentally discovered a date that has way too many of these types of 'maybe's' From 1985 to 1989 were notorious for these.Bob Piazza

That's just after they started using plated zinc in 82-83.
The MMs have sharp edges and plating wasn't perfected yet so many have split plating around the MMs.
It takes higher mag and skill to find the real RPMs from the last years of punched MMs and I respect anyone that has the ability to find them.
I think there is no really easy to spot zinc RPM.
Give me a bag of wheats and I'll find some nice RPMs, give me a bag of zincolns and I'll probably find nothing
The folks that find them are really showing some skill.Comment
