1970-S Sm over LG Date. Hmmm

This one really has me befuddled...There is very little, if any other doubling on the coin other than the date. Maybe a little in TRUST. Then it "looks" like a small date over large date. Also, if you notice, the "Y" in Liberty has a short leg just like the 1970-S small date. If you ignore the larger strike behind, it looks like a 70 small? Hope the pictures are Okay and Good Luck.
Looking for your opinions, this looks like a "fun" one. LOL I'm curious as to what you all come up with.

It's a LD with MD. Ejection doubling, same thing since it's a form of MD.

It has all of the typical clues of MD. The MD took a step from the normal date, notice how the top of the 9 is thin without the step included. The same MD shows on the S, that's another clue of MD since the MM was punched after the die was made so identical direction on both is almost always going to be MD.

The inside curl of the 9 is blunt and points more down and not back like a SD.

I really suggest that you read up on the minting process and check out what does or doesn't exist. No offense, but 1970S small over large date coins don't exist. Studying the types of actual errors and varieties versus damage will keep you from holding on to coins that don't have any true value.

I'm in with the MD... Some heavy die wear as the VDB looks to be about half gone and of course the dreaded PSD - lots of hits all over the coin... One to keep for sure as a sample piece for future reference unless you like to collect them - then keep them all - after all MD coins are rare - no two are exactly the same!!!
