Notice the similarities in image 003 and compare it to CC 004 there are what looks like die gouges under and a little to the left of the 1 in the date.................Dan
Would it be ok to do an overlay???

With permission from Copper Coins and Bobs continued support (Thanks Bob) I did an overlay of CCs 003 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds 004 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds and 006 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds Compared to 003 your MM is to far south and west... Compared to 004 your MM is to far north and east... It does match 006... With the exception of minor differences due to die state everything aligns... CCs 003, 004 and 006 are really close in appearance and location... In my opinion yours is CCs 006... Hope that helps a little bit!!!

Thank you very much Bob for allowing the use of your awesome photos when Jim needs to do these overlays!

Interesting RPM and good job with the overlays.

Sometimes overlays are slightly off if the originating lens(es) used to shoot the coin had some slight distortion or if the coin was at any sort of angle relative to the lens(es) used. I have seen this with a variety otherwise matching perfectly with markers and such but Dr Wiles photos and mine will have some distortion and they won't fully line up. Anyway, I am on a tangent. I have done zero work on 1973 RPMs. Cool find!

We have all been suspecting of those causes but the majority of us are not pros in pic taking... Excellent info for all of us... Thanks Jason!!!

Thank you for doing the overlay's Jim, as Gomer would say surprise, surprise, Never thought it would be 006. I looked at CC's 006 and even posted a pic saying it is no match, and then it turns out being the right one. I was really off on this one. I guess Jason is right about the lens being distorted at different angles along with the coin you are shooting, this information is very helpful thank you Jason. CC 006 it is then. I almost got the hang of these overlay's it would seem overlay's are sometimes the only way to find out which RPM it is. I thank Jim, Viv, makecent, and Jason for your input and help, I'm still surprised.................Dan

Glad I could help Dan... Some times the over lays are the only way to tell when the RPMs are so close in appearance!!!
