Sheila, a big congrats!! Did you get into somebodies old coin collection?!? You have not only been finding a lot of DDO's but somewhat elusive, tough DDO's!! You are on fire right now! Maybe it's the new meds!!
1982 P copper large date DDO. large die crack ack on reverse. ? Possible new listing?

Sheila, on the reverse of your coin, does the die clash look to be in the same location as Bob's photo on the Coppercoins 002? Also, I think I may be seeing an obverse gouge marker that is the same on yours as the listings. Can I post your photo here with an arrow on it?Last edited by VAB2013; 11-17-2018, 06:43 AM.Comment

Thank you! I have had this one for a while now. I have just been going back to it to look for anything. For about six months now. LOL! I should have posted earlier. One of the 72 I posted I also had For a little while also. I just wasn’t sure which one it was at the time. I know once I found the second one. I guess that I may have run into some good ones over time and just not went back to them.Comment

Girl you kill me... you've had this and those awesome 72 DDO's in a drawer all this time!! That's what happens when you move and you have kids!! Stuff gets put on the back burner for awhile! Glad you are back now!!!
Okay I wanted to see what you guys think, if this might be a common die gouge at the D of GOD. I'm seeing what looks similar on Coppercoins listing and VV. Couldn't check Wexler's this morning because his site must have been down for maintenance but will look again. Here's Sheila's pic with an arrow at the die gouge in question:Attached FilesLast edited by VAB2013; 11-17-2018, 11:12 AM.Comment

I did not see that tiny little thing! Yes, my eyes have been giving me so much trouble that I cannot see tiny things like that much.Comment

Sorry your eyes have been bothering you Sheila and hope that gets better with the new Dr. and meds!!
Okay, finally was able to get on Wexler's site and he references the numerous die scratches running SE from the bust at Stage B.
We'll see what Jim and the rest of the guys think, but I believe yours is a later die stage of VV Die 001, CC 002 and Wexler 002 that has not been reported yet! Congrats Sheila!!!Comment

Yes, I think that mine may be a new listing also because of the die crack on the reverse. I have not been able to find anything with that kind of die crack on it.Comment

I agree! It's nice that your find has very little circulation wear because the spread on IGWT shows up so well! I would think Dr. Wiles would be a good person to get this one since he has Stages A-C listed. Yours would probably be Stage D!Last edited by VAB2013; 11-17-2018, 12:32 PM.Comment

Excellent find Sheila... Did you take your pics at an angle??? I see the die dot at the D but what I don't get off hand is the L of LIBERTY looks to be impinging on the I which VVs 001 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...982PDDO001.htm does not show??? On VVs 003 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...982PDDO003.htm the L is impinging but nothing else matches up??? It is most likely the advanced die stage throwing me off??? One to have included in the VV files for sure!!!Jim

Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
