Well, when you save a file in paint under the place you select filename there's a pulldown for type but it only will say jpg then it quotes it says jpeg because it is the same.
But, you can just right click your file then click properties and change it by typing jpg or jpeg. It will say changing the extension is risky but when you change it (for me) it will still open the same but you guys that have it saving the file might be different so try that by just changing it and see if it opens differently.
I can't experiment because for me they never save they just open fast.Comment

I think the issue you guys have is in the browsers.
So if you right click any photo file then look at the options one is open, the other is "open with" if you click "open with" you can pick a program then there's a box that says "always use selected program to open this type of file with" so I'm wondering by doing that it can change the way it opens a jpg vs a jpeg. Your browsers might be slightly different but similar.Comment

The Version of Paint I have is Windows 10 Home. When I have a file opened in Paint, click on Save As, the only JPG option is JPEG, click that and the next window shows JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.jfif) that's the long list of file types I was talking about. The * denotes whatever the file name you are working on is. Then, go to where the file name is and type .jpg after it...
I just did this while I was typing to see if it works right. Here's the file I was using... And I just checked it and it opened right away in a different tab.Comment

Ed, I was unable to change the file type going through properties as you explained above. I was able to change the name of the file by adding .jpg, did not get a risky message, but when I went back to look at the file it was not changed, only the name of it changed.Well, when you save a file in paint under the place you select filename there's a pulldown for type but it only will say jpg then it quotes it says jpeg because it is the same.

I am wondering if this thing is two-sided. One... the type of file (seems like jpg's open best) and also how the file is attached (since there are at least two different ways to attach a photo to a thread) That leads me to think that it might not be browser related at all.
And... there's a third element... some people are using a computer or laptop and others are using their phones.Last edited by VAB2013; 11-21-2018, 11:00 AM.Comment

Finally think I figured it out, at least on my part of the issue.
A)I take images with my Droid phone (which saves them as .jpg, )
For various and sundry reasons I have to email the images to myself, usually by wifi, so I can post them.
B)After selecting the images I want to email I press "DONE".
The next step is what I had been doing incorrectly (to get them to open in .jpg).
C)Choosing the file size as "Original" is key and takes longer but doesn't convert the file. It will keep the file as .jpg
I had been choosing "Resize" to send the images for quicker delivery which converted the file to yucky .jpeg , with the "e".
(As a test I will post another variety, with images of course, I think you might like.)
Thanks Viv and Ed for helping me figure this one out. Fingers crossed.

Does your smart fone have a usb cable??? If so you should be able to connect directly to your computer and transfer/copy the pics directly to your confuser???Finally think I figured it out, at least on my part of the issue.
