1967P extra eyelid or just a gouge?

This Lincoln had a good acetone soak and the thing is still there. Do you guys think it's a gouge or maybe an extra eyelid?

Thank you for taking a look and helping!

    Good eye.

I am thinking gouge because eyelids are usually thicker and rounded [like a long mound] -- best of luck with it.

Thank you T! I was thinking the same thing, then I looked at some other extra eyelids and saw this 1963P-1DO-014 on Coppercoins and it's more long and narrow (not rounded), I just don't know much about these since I've never found one before

I'm with T, Viv. There are exceptions but I think it's as T described the majority of the time. Larry posted one recently that was sharp and pointed. Yeah, these guys are tough for me!

          Nice find Viv.
I believe Bob mentioned one time that a key factor was oblong in shape and mimicking the eyelid (not a die dot).
The fact that there are some already attributed and mimics the direction of the primary eye bodes well.

I think yours has real potential.

Thanks Jon and Cliff for helping! Yeah, this one is not oblong, it's more sharp and pointed so it's probably just a gouge.

Based on what I see, this appears to be an actual doubled eyelid. We need to remember that the secondary hubbing may have been very light or very heavy or anywhere in between. That directly affects how the extra eyelid appears.

Oh Wow Bob! Thank you so much for taking a look! If it is like you say, then it's my first extra eyelid find and a new one! I would love to send this one to you sometime to get your professional inspection and attribution! I have a couple of others set aside that I've been meaning to send to you for about a year... my fault... sometimes I'm as slow as a turtle trying to cross the street!

I will look at it for you Viv, but if you continue to be like that slow turtle, I may never get to it. I only plan on living until I am 127 1/2.

                      Congratulations.
I had a hunch you'd be hearing good news.

Thank you very much Cliff! We will find out for sure after Bob sees it but it's very exciting that he thinks this looks like an extra eyelid!

Thank you so much Jon! Yes it's definitely my first and actually I wasn't looking for the extra eyelid, I was just noticing that it was a pretty nice looking 1967P and was considering putting it in my Ed System! Hey... you've scored a really nice first find and discovery with that 1964D Bar L Variety! I am really happy for you on that one too!
