Are you all ready for me to step in and muck everything up yet?

OK. I had a few minutes to take one more pic and back out my previous arrows and try to zoom. Remember the coin grades Fine-Fine+ so it is probably damage. Why I posted these pics are because I see countless folks on e-bay selling this stuff for alot of $$$$ and it's incorrect. Yes this is RPM#8 but someone could also put Look #8 with un discovered die state or NEW RPM and because of pics - Most are terrible - no one is the wiser until the coin arrives. Then we have to send it back or if the seller only charged $2 your stuck with a cent that is hopefully an RPM. At least this coin is worth about $2. But how about the ones that are nothing. Were just out because of the high price of postage
Arrow #3 is the best bet for damage as some have said. Notice the extra loop in this photo somewhat looks like a screw driver was placed on the lower loop of the mintmark and wedged in. But I do remember the lower loop of this mintmark style is also not the same size as the rest of the loop.
To me the actual coin does not look damaged on the lower loop so we go to Cliff's idea. - A die crack - It is Raised. and if turned the proper way it almost looks like a very light triple mintmark. I'm not convinced so I am letting everyone else look. The other possibility is this is later Die state then we think - There are alot of pull lines behind the Jacket and this may actually be Metal Fatigue.
Certainly didn't mean to say what you already mentioned as a possibility (Crazy) Jon. I was merely stating my opinion also. You're assessment is correct in my eyes so well done.
Sorry Bob, I didn't mean anything negative, my word is worthless without folks like you to back it up. I like you capitalized Crazy though!
Way to go Jon! I caught it that you had it figured out and was correct once I saw Bob's assessment of what was going on! Dang you even used the long word "recapitulate" instead of "recap"! You're getting so smart, it is kinda scary LOL! Great job my friend!
Thanks Viv!! I'm pretty sure I looked up that Will word!!

Just my input...
I will take a pic of the back of the shoulder.
Thanks for posting this Eric and lending your expertise! I am always in awe of you folks with decades of knowledge and I do try to pay attention and learn from it. Great pics by the way!
Thanks Viv!! I'm pretty sure I looked up that Will word!!
What always bothered me is that capitulate means "to give in," but recapitulate doesn't mean "to give in twice. " lol. The things that keep me up at night....

Whew! Thank you Will for explaining your thoughts on this, I thought it was going to be something else

I'm in with the hit and displaced metal... Very interesting how light angle can change the look of what we see... I had that recently on some 56D RPMs I was looking at... On VVs 008 Stage B Magnified RPM there appears to be part of the secondary MMs loop showing on the SE loop of the primary MM... Not as visible on CCs LDS sample or Wexlers 029 ... What I noticed on the 1st pic of your date/MM is that it appears to have taken a hit across the SE section displacing the metal as the loop is no longer curved but straight when compared to the other samples???
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
