    1980 D new RPM?

First off, this is not the best example and I almost tossed it, probably should. No matches that I can tell and this one bothered me for some reason, so I took some angled pics too and I'm not so sure it's just deterioration and maybe slight MD.

Thanks for looking and any help.

    Jon.

Sorry Jon... I'm not much help on these 80's RPM's. If I found this one I would have to do exactly what you are doing - post it! Just looking through Coppercoins' listings - if I had to pick one - it would be 1980D-1MM-001 because of what I'm seeing at the upper serif of yours (but the MM might not be in the correct location - I'm terrible at that).

I don't know about this one yet. I have to go through a half roll of 'maybe's' I have for the date. I have seen this before but can't remember what I decided to do about it.

Thanks for checking it out Viv!! Nothing looks right, as far as the listings but I'm not sure if it's even an RPM, just looks a bit out of sorts. We'll see what Bob comes up with here.

Thank you Bob!! I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. The straight on shot looks good but when I started getting angled shots, I wasn't so sure.

Can I download your MM close up and do an overlay... I know I 'm not the pro here but I think I see why Bob is not sure??? On the inside of your MM south edge is what looks like the junction of the inside vertical bar and lower loop of a secondary MM... Just not sure if it lines up correctly with what looks like the south edge of an upper serif on your primary MMs upper serif???

The listed 1981-D's are just a bit stronger then this. Does it have a split lower serif? That is how the other 80-D's got listed - both serifs. I cannot tell you haw many of these I threw back into change years ago going through rolls. I personally never figured they would be strong enough to list..

Thanks for checking it out Eric! I took a multitude of pics and these were the best I could come up with. The only reason I even messed with it this much, was because there were so few listed. I cannot definitively answer your question about the lower serif but want to say it shows slightly in the angled pics. As I said earlier, a horrible example and I should just toss or put away until a better example possibly surfaces.

Yeah I see it Jon. My thinking and only mine. Not strong enough. That is from sending ALOT of coins in. It's ultimately up to you. I checked the boxes of the collection I bought a few years ago. Nothing past 1969 so I'm no help. Bob would be the one if Copper starts listing again...

Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it. I just wanted to get some folks take on it on the forum, in it's condition, I would probably not send it in.

I found my stash of the 'maybe's' for the date and MM. On all of them that even remotely looked like this one, I had put 'Not listable'. I am pretty sure yours would fall into that category as well.

Thanks for taking time to dig those out and check them Bob!! That was kind of what I figured.

I tried the overlays and I could not make anything work... I am glad Bob checked out his stash... Along with Eric I can see why it's a TMTL (To Minor To List)!!!
