    1927 DDO-001 MDS or counterfeit???

I originally posted a 1927 DDO w/ doubled eye but new at doubled eyes so.... But have some concerns over this coin. The weight is 3.14 so that's ok. But concern is detail isn't as sharp as should be but I know its DDO-001. Is this a counterfeit or just a MDS-ELDS. I took better pictures to try and capture what or if any doubling showing other than correct thickness. The RED arrows shows why its DDO-001 or counterfeit mimicking DDO-001.

I think you have a higher grade 27 with die deterioration, The twenties are notorious for weak features and worn dies. It is rare to see one with full details.

Its just a normal cent. I just looked through about 50 1927 P cents.

        It's certainly a real cent.

That variety drives me nuts on circs but on uncs it's pretty clear but I don't see it on yours. If it was, it would show wider on the lower L and B.

I think the notch on the B is on many years, someone might explain it better but I think it's like an issue with the master.

I agree that this is not the variety. The 'notch' we see on a lot of coins on the B of LIBERTY is pretty much a design feature...more noticeable on higher grade coins. This is kinda like the doubling we see on foreheads and noses on a lot of the wheaties. I think they refer to that as reduction lathe doubling.
A pick up point on the variety (1DO-001) that I have seen on all examples I have run across is actually a rather thick lower horizontal bar on the L, B, and E in LIBERTY. If you look at any good photo of this area, you will see what I mean. Even on well circulated examples, this area seem considerably thicker than non variety examples.

I had a dumb brain moment over this coin and a few others lately. I'm trying to maintain more focused on the coins now. Rather than getting all excited and such and hurry and post I am trying to think it through before I make another mistake. I can't take back mistakes made but can learn from them to improve.
