Here’s a preview of the article that will be in the June, Numismatist. I misspoke last night saying it was going to be in May. 1910 over 09 reverse. The N in United is supposed to be a clean cut N, the N on this one is a transition of the type 1, and type 2 reverse of 1909. We had been working with the 09 reverse’s trying to identify the different versions, and got very familiar with a few reverse’s, then one day of checking some 1910’s on EBay, Shawn from the group found what he thought was a 1909 reverse on a 1910. After a a quick double take, the buy it now was hit. Sharing pics of what he had found, I went looking, and found an exact example. An example is with Dr. Wiles currently. It was an auction, and had to wait it out. We knew what we had found. Here’s a look. Special thanks to Shawn Tew, and Blaine Neupert. Enjoy!

Kudos on the discovery to all involved and thanks for sharing with us.
This is extremely interesting. People looking for the 1910 over the 1909 reverse were so focused on trying to see remnants of the VDB they missed other design changes.Last edited by Petespockets55; 04-07-2023, 05:59 AM.Comment

I’m aware of the 10 ddr from Wexler’s listing, it was mentioned before the write up, not sure why it ended up that way. I have yet to find an example, but I’m looking. Thank youComment

We have not found a 10-s with this reverse yet, we fully expect it to be found. The reverse is found on 09-s mints, so it very well could be on the 10-s. There is a group of 4-5 of us, that have checked just about every possible picture within the last 3-4 months. Enjoy!Comment

From everything we can tell, this is a type 1 over a type 2 1909 reverse. It was used on P’s, VDB’s, and S mints. The 1910 coins are supposed to have. A sharp cut N in United, this is a transition of the 2 earlier reverse’s. Seems like it was a
leftover and used on a few 10’s. Still in the determination stage, but Dr. Wiles has said this will be a class 3 ddr.Comment
