    1938 S RPM 1 found in Slab

Hey folks I found this specimen hiding in an NGC slab and graded at 66 Red. This is a classic case study in Die State recognition. I want to thank Bob Piazza and Charles Daughtrey again for their wonderful web site. This specimen exhibits a weak secondary mintmark and as such I could not readily identify it. I turned to coppercoins and there I found the tell tale die gouge between the N and G of IN GOD WE TRUST and then turning to the reverse found the die scratches that run parallel to the rim above E and P of E. PLURIBUS UNUM and that runs from the first T of STATES to N of CENTS ( SEE PHOTOGRAPHS) and everyone do not trust the TPG's to get it right.

REMEMBER to BUY THE COIN and not the SLAB and also if you really want to be a good collector learn from the experts and study the coins yourself.

    Thank you,

    Jeff

I am glad you found what you needed on coppercoins Jeff. Any time we hear that the site has helped someone attribute a coin, or given them useful information, it makes us very happy. Thanks for the kind words.
