1989D RPM or just a hit?

This is another example of a 1989D with plating issues and die deterioration.

Did the mintmark take a hit and give a false impression of a lower split serif?

    Thanks for any comments...

in my honest opinion I am going to say it took a hit...the split looks more like an illusion. However, I would wait for the pros to chime in on this one!

It could be RPM #3 but with the plating to the west of the MM only a good picture from another source with a overlay can tell. Bob may have to chime in on this one.
