    First timer...any advice?

    Hey guys,
so there is a nice coin show at the SF mint that I'm heading to next week. I checked the schedule and there's gonna be some dealers and an auction. I have NEVER been to a coin auction before, much less any coin show, and I don't know what to expect. Do some people bring their own coins just for other people to take a look at them or something? Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Simon- First coin show can be a bit overwhelming! As a kid, it was better than a candy store, but led to a lot of impulse buys.
I'd suggest that you take some time initially to look at everything at the show, find a couple of dealers you're comfortable with. Some can be stand-offish and others will spend lots of time with you. Try to have an idea of exactly what you're searching for. Of course you can bring your own coins, but it's not like antiques roadshow, dealers are there to buy and sell. Don't be offended if you get put off for someone else handing over fists full of dollars! The auction itself contains coins that were consigned to the auction company and cataloged months ago. Auctions can be an intimidating experience as a first time buyer, but there's nothing wrong with watching and learning.
    Most importantly, Have Fun!!!
