I was searching through some coins this afternoon. My dad came in and said "Are you numismatizing again?" I thought it sounded pretty funny, and I don't know if there is a single word that describes the action of "specifically searching through coins". Maybe I'll send this to some people and get it in a dictionary...
Numismatize (new-miss-ma-ties): verb; to go through the actions of coin inspection or study.
Use in a sentence: "I'll be at my desk, I need to numismatize for a while".
Origin: Right here on the LCR!
variations:
numismatizing: the present-progressive form. "I'm numismatizing right now"
numismatized: the past tense form. "I'm sure that Bob numismatized throughout the weekend."
numismatizer: a noun describing an individual who searches through coins but does not collect or study coinage (doesn't make much sense).
"Wow, that guy is such a numismatizer. I also don't know what that means."
numismatizable: an adjective describing a batch of coins that seems worthy of searching through. "This bag of unsearched indian head pennies seems numismatizable..."
enjoy, feel free to add variations/more sentences...
